Searching opportunities

The "Opportunities" feature in OPSMO is a powerful tool that provides a comprehensive database of funding and contract opportunities from Contracts Finder, TED, and Horizon Europe. Users can easily search, filter, and tailor results to quickly identify relevant opportunities, and seamlessly transition from discovery to proposal submission with OPSMO's integration.

Saving Searches

To search opportunities in OPSMO:

  1. Access the main side navigation by clicking the OPSMO logo in the top left corner, then select “Opportunities”
  2. Once on the opportunities search page, the default search tab shows and is indicated by the magnifying glass search icon highlighted. This option enables you to search without saving any search configuration and is useful for one-off browsing of opportunities.
  3. Alternatively, clicking the “New” button will create a new saved search which you can name to remind yourself to remind yourself what you were looking for. For example, you may create 2 saved searches called “UK Data Science Contracts” or “European Software Opportunities” and enter appropriate search criteria for each.
  4. Enter any search criteria into the available fields to narrow the search results that are shown in the table below the search fields.
  5. To view the details for any opportunity, click on the corresponding row in the search results table on the opportunities page.
  6. To delete a saved search, click the bin icon on the top right. This cannot be undone.

Search criteria

The following describes the available search criteria

  1. Sources -Currently OPSMO ingests opportunities from Contracts Finder in the UK, Tenders Electronic Daily (TED) in Europe, and Horizon Europe. You can choose to multi-select sources to filter results from these sources.
  2. OPSMO tags -These tags are OPSMO classification algorithms which automatically categorise opportunities by some popular domains. They can be useful to further filter opportunities that are relevant for you.
  3. Keywords -This option provides free text search over the entire opportunity and can be used to filter based on any personal interest.
  4. CPV Codes -Common Procurement Vocabulary (CPV) codes are a European standard classification system for contracts. The authors of the opportunity self-assign a category to the opportunity and these can be used in OPSMO searches.
  5. Statuses - These indicate whether an opportunity is Open, Withdrawn, Closed, Awarded, Null, or active. This categorisation is under development, and we are looking to standardise this in OPSMO as different opportunities use different labels and some don’t provide any such status (hence Null). Users may wish to experiment with this and consider selecting all Status categories initially.
  6. Published from/to -This date range enables the filtering of results by when they were published. By looking at more recent results they are more likely to still be available however, by making the from date to recent there may not be any results.
  7. Value from/to - This range enables filtering of results by monetary value although not every opportunity provides such values.
